Missypixie Summer Launch

As most of you may know, I'm a huge fan of Missypixie. I love all their items because they really fit my style. Their designs are effortlessly chic and feminine(especially their willow items). My ultimate goal is to have half my wardrobe filled with clothes from Missypixie :D

I found out about their summer launch through their facebook and knew I just had to go! I told my sister immediately and made sure that she was free that day too to go with me. I love shopping with my sister for a few reasons. Firstly, she gives me her honest opinion. Secondly, she reminds me about my budget(when I'm broke). Thirdly, she makes me feel better and less guilty for shopping cause she always manages to shop more than me. Last but not least, she's a huge Missypixie fan too! She originally found their items okay only but after hearing me go on and on about how their items are so cute, she decided to check it out herself and now the Yip sisters are huge fans of Missypixie.

The summer launch was held yesterday and I'm so glad I finally met the owners of Missypixie, Kelly and Sharon! I still remember my sister asking Kelly a question and she is a really, really sweet person. Too bad I forgot to take a photo with them ): I'm still really amazed and inspired by how they started off selling handmade accessories and now, it is a really established blog shop.

On our way to the summer launch, I showed my sister a photo that Kelly uploaded on instagram which showed the clothes that were hanging on the rack. It was really pretty and tidy which made us even more excited then we were alr were. Upon arriving, we stupidly climbed 5 flight of stairs up to the place cause we forgot to check which level it was on lol. Trust me, if we knew it was on the fifth story, we would have taken a lift.

So we were looking through all the pretty clothes when I saw a shirt which my sister wanted to get for only $12!!! I took the Highneck Muscle Tank in black and wine to my sister to let her know.(Yeah, I'm a pretty awesome sister hehehe) Well my sister couldn't decide which colour to get and I still rmb telling her that I probably should have just grabbed one for her so she doesn't have to decide. Being a shopaholic, we both freaked out at the insanely cheap price hehehe. Unexpectedly(or maybe not), she went back and found another one in grey and guess what... SHE BOUGHT ALL 3 IN THE END LOL. She already owns the one in white so she now owns the highneck muscle tank in ALL the possible colours! Shopaholic alert! Now no one can call me crazy when I shop. She bought 1 shirt in 4 colours hahaha. It was so funny and we both were laughing so much on the way to the car.

At the cashier, Kelly was joking and said that my sister must really like the shirt a lot. Well true. The cutting is fabulous and it's a basic so you can pair it up with everything! I actually wore the white one to the event so you can see it in the photos ltr on (:

She bought a dress too and you probably have realised that I have not mentioned anything about my buys yet. I only bought a romper actually. Even thought I only got 1 item, I am still super happy! I saw the photo of the romper on Sharon's Instagram and I knew I had to get it! It's a white lace romper and there is a portion at the back which is bare. It's not launched yet but I'd try to do a post on it before it is(: I am so in love with it, I'd wear it even though my horrible sun burn is really visible. It's too pretty to just let it wait in my wardrobe for a few months before wearing it out.

So here are some photos from the event!

Just look at the pretty cupcakes! Can't believe the amount of effort that was put into the event.

Oh yeah! We were 1 of the first 100 customers so both of us got a goodie bag each :D It's filled with vouchers so yay!

The only thing that wasn't so good about the launch was that not a lot of items were on sale :/ I would have bought a lot more if more items are on sale but nevertheless, it was a really fun day and I can't wait for the next warehouse sale! Great way to end off the holidays(:

Shopping Date!

Went on a shopping date with my dear, Yazmin at Vivo. I wanted to go to Vivo to check out Kissjane cause I'm crazily in love with their items. I met Yazzy at Paya Lebar and as usual, she was late lol. Totally should have anticipated it and arrive later too but nvm. So I sat at the platform watching trains pass by ):

On our way to Vivo, she told me about a marathon that she'd be signing up for and some of you may have signed up for it too! It's the Color run!!!!! -Cues some overly happy music- I didn't actually know what it was when she first mentioned it(oops) but got so interested when I did! Basically it's a 5km marathon where you'd be splashed with different colours at different stops. It's kind of like the festival in India where everyone just splashes paint at strangers. It's compulsary for everyone to wear white so we'd all be rainbow coloured after the marathon. Cool right! Here's a fun fact: It's known as the happiest run in the world. Chirp chirp. I signed up for the one on 17 Aug so let me know if you'll be there!

We first went to take photos and Yazmin kindly offered(not really) to be my photographer of the day. All the photos in my 'Vintage Wash' post are taken by her. I was really afraid the sun would set before we snap any nice photos cause we arrived there in the evening. Luckily I managed to snap a few shots for an outfit post. We also took a few retarded photos of us cause we're girls and girls does stuff like that.

We then had dinner first before shopping cause we're forever hungry. We ate at Fish n Co cause I was craving for it. I have really specific cravings during different days... Weird right?

I ordered my usual New York Fish n Chips cause it's my favourite and Yazzy ordered the same too! It has cheese not only as a sauce but also in the fish itself. Tastes really, really good. However, both of us didn't managed to finish our meal. The thing about Fish n Co is that the portion of the fish is quite huge and you can only take so much fish. The first few bites were scrumptious but after you have eaten half of the fish, you'd probably get sick of it :/ The fries were not that tasty too... It kind of only served to satisfy my craving. After dinner, we went for our shopping trip.

We first went to Kissjane where I tried on about 6 pieces but got none in the end ): It's not that I don't want to but I'm just broke. Confessions of a shopaholic. I'm planning to do a post on shopping soon actually and share some tips on how not to shop so much because I know the consequences of doing so. I mean I am a student and my only income is my allowance from my mum. Oh well. I actually tried on a really pretty comfy knot dress from Missypixie. I am a huge fan of Missypixie so you can imagine the pain I felt when I had to say no to it. There was also a really cute skirt from TTR. It's a black floral one but I sadly had to be strong and say no to it too. To make me feel better, Yazzy told me smth bad about each item. Not kidding... She told me the skirt looks like a curtain and the dress was too old for me HAHAHA. I love her so much cause she says stuff like this :D

Then we went on to a few other shops such as Forever 21, Pull & Bear, Forever New and Topshop. Have you noticed that the clothes from F21 aren't that nice anymore? I use to think that the F21 at Vivo have the best outfits but sadly, their style changed and it's either too clubbing looking or for office wear. I really wish they'll bring back their summer floral prints and pretty lace dresses.

We walked pass Baby Phat and Yazzy wanted to go there cause they were having a sale. She was soooo excited and was telling me about the designer and how all her kids have their own clothing line. I normally don't go to Baby Phat cause their clothes and more for working adults and not teens. I still went in anyway and it was the best decision ever(or not). I saw a gorgeous winter jacket and it was half price!!! Okay time for a little check: You know you're a shopaholic when you buy a winter jacket now and have no idea when you'd ever use it. That's what happened to me. Does it ever happen to you?

In my defence, I go to HK almost every year so I'd definitely have a chance to use it. It's just I'm not sure when... Hopefully it'll be soon if not the jacket would just be collecting dust in my wardrobe. The jacket comes in black and camel and I took half an hour to decide which colour to get hahaha. If Sg had winter, I totally would have gotten both. The sales lady was very nice as well and was talking to us and helping me decide which colour to get(: Sales ladies like her make me smile hehehe

Got the black one in the end after much consideration and I'm pretty sure I won't regret it(: Well this ends my post on my shopping date with Yazzy and am crossing my fingers I'd somehow find more money to shop.

Vintage Wash

Madly in love with this denim skirt. It's really different because it isn't a plain denim skater skirt neither does it have a flare cutting like the typical ones. It's length is also a bit longer than your usual skirts. It's even more unique because of it's prints! Am a sucker for prints like these hehehe. When I saw this skirt on the website, it was sold out alr. Had to buy it from a reseller but it's definitely worth the wait! It's the only skirt I have that is slight above my knees. The rest are normal short skater kind of skirts. Furthermore, I love this skirt because it doesn't 'fly up' when the wind blows. That's honestly the biggest trouble I have with my skirts. I can nvr wear them outdoors cause I'll look really funny with my hands by my side 24/7 ensuring that a gush of wind won't blow it up.

This white blouse is actually my sister's. Don't you just love having a sister whom you can share clothes with? I originally wanted to pair the skirt up with a bright yellow crop top to add a pop of colour to it. Unfortunately, I don't have one(really need to get one) so I went with this blouse. I felt really vintage ish when I wore this out. My friend actually said I look like I stepped out from America in the 1970s. I just love trying out new styles. Who knows? Maybe 1 day I'll wear something that is super rocker ish(thinking of studs, spikes, black, basically the opposite of me) It's nice to change your style once in awhile so you'll stay unpredictable.

With my straw sling bag, I really completed the vintage look hahaha. Even paired it up with brown flats cause I think of brown when I think of vintage. Weird right? Hahaha well so this was the outfit I wore on a day out to Vivo(:

Monday Funday

Monday blues? No, there's no such thing as Monday blues during the holidays. In fact, everyday seems like a Sunday hahaha. I keep losing track of dates and days because it doesn't really matter. So I had a really fun outing with Lynn to Marina Sq(: We met at Esplanade to take some photos then went to find food cause we're forever hungry. Funny story. We both love to eat but take literally an hour to decide what to get. We walked the whole of Marina Sq but everything seemed so boring so we ate at Raffles City in the end.

We ate at Osaka Osho and up there is a photo of what we got(: The portion was huge actually. I actually had 2 dumplings and half of the pot of pork chop left. Lynn couldn't finish hers too. She had about 4 dumplings left hahaha. We both ordered sodas too. Overall, it was a pretty good meal and it cost about $20 per person. I definitely would love to go there again to try the other types of food. Oh yeah! Their specialty are their homemade dumplings(: Not a dumpling fan so I can't tell if it's good or not. All dumplings taste the same to me but I found it quite decent.

We were talking about what to do after dinner and we originally wanted to shop around then go for dessert. However, we were quite tired to shop and honestly didn't want to spend too much money. What's the fun of shopping if you can't get anything? So we made an impromptu plan to watch World War Z. We made it just in time for the show actually. the film was at 7.10pm and we bought the tickets at 7.09pm. Yay! It's fate.

Funny story. So before the movie, we weren't sure if we wanted to watch the movie cause we expected that we would end up crying. The title kinda says war so we expected lots of death and stuff. I told Lynn I was expecting like a WWII where 2 countries are at war and drags everyone in it. She laughed and said it's about zombies and I laughed back at her cause I insisted that it was about a war. Okay I know what all of you guys are thinking, that Lynn is right. Yeah... she is. In my defense, I watched the trailer but it didn't give any clue about zombies. You know the part where everyone climbed on top of each other to get pass the wall? Well I thought of it in the context of a war so I thought those people were so devestated, they needed to get out of the country and hence resorted to that extent. Makes perfect sense right? Turns out, it was actually zombies trying to get into the country lol.

Overall, the movie was really nice! Lynn and I were scared throughout the movie being the scardy cats we were so we were covering our eyes half the time. Definitely a must watch if you like movies like these.

Street Chic

(Didn't know Lynn was taking a photo haha. Wasn't even looking at the camera)

Wore this comfy outfit out on a date with Lynn! What I like about this look is that is mashes up 2 styles. It isn't too girly but neither is it too rocker ish. I've always been a fan of basic skater dresses because I feel that when paired with different accessories, the look turns out to be very different. I actually have the exact same dress in black too.

For today, I paired it with my favourite buy from Amber Avenue ever. This green biker vest is a staple in my wardrobe and it should be in all your wardrobe cause it's just too pretty! You can wear it with shorts or dresses and it's still equally fabulous. It's made of a thick material and the cutting is really good. I love throwing it over something basic cause then my outfit won't be too plain.

I was going for a street chic kind of look so I wore my pair of Steve Madden wedge shoes. It actually has an inner heel but you can't really see it cause it's covered. I was the same height as Lynn after wearing it hahaha. It's really comfy and usually doesn't give me any problem. I once shopped for 10h in them. Yup! Definitely worth the money.

Special thanks to Lynn for taking the photos! (She actually asked for me to credit her HAHAHA) Okay but seriously, I love her and she's an amazing friend. 7 years and running!

Kaleidoscope'13

Every year, SR Drama organises a drama performance for us(: I didn't know what to expect since it was my first time watching it. We went as a class and had so much fun! There are a few shows but we went for the one at night. I'm pretty sure we were the only class that went tgt. The rest went with their friends. Yay to a bonded class!

The performancse were really funny and according to the performers, we were the best audience hahaha. It was worth braving the haze(PSI was 600 that day btw) to go see them! I vividly remember 1 performance where it was basically about a girl killing(using magic or smth) her friend and ending up with her friend's bf. It was sooooo creepy! As if the tension wasn't bad alr, they played some kind of doll music(hate those). Jolene and I were freaking out the whole time and the audience all went oh my god. They really said that hahaha. It's creepier cause I knew the girl who acted as the creepy girl in real life and she's so sweet! I was telling her how I can't view her in the same light ever again. Ooopsy!

Supper at Simpang!

So I was playing mahjong yesterday with my family at night and I commented that I was hungry. Turns out, all of them were hungry too! Hehehe we are always hungry. We originally wanted to ask my sister's boyfriend to buy food back for us since he was coming over but we decided to go out tgt instead to get supper. We were all shocked when my mum said she would follow along cause she nvr ever goes out after 10pm. It's been years since she went out past 12am haha.

We went to Simpang at Bedok and it was my first time going there. All of us ordered Roti Prata but we all ordered different types. I was blown away by the different kinds of Roti Pratas. There were so many possible fillings such as cheese, double egg, banana etc. There were also dessert pratas hahaha. I ordered the Double Egg Prata in the end cause I've always loved egg pratas. Now it's double the fun :D We also bought cheese fries and we all shared it. It was pretty good.

(Plaster Prata)

(Tissue Prata)

Okay so my sister ordered the Plaster Prata. Basically instead of the egg being 'in' the prata, it is cracked on top of it so in the middle, it's kind of liquidy cause of the yolk. Pretty cool huh! It was served with curry(which so super spicy btw) and definitely was a change from the normal kind of pratas.

My brother ordered the Tissue Prata which is also new to me. It's basically plain prata but it's really thin and crispy. Really tasty actually even though it's plain. This one didn't come with curry but it was good by itself(:

Didn't take a photo of the rest cause they looked like normal pratas hahaha. Sorry for the blur photos but it was at night so the lighting wasn't good.

Saddle Up!

I saw this pair of pinafore shorts on Missypixie but didn't get it during the launch cause I was afraid it would be too big for me. The straps are not adjustable and so I was afraid it would fall off easily. However, when I was out with my sister, I saw it at Kissjane! Well no harm trying it on right? So I did and the straps were too long if I didn't do an X at the back. Hence, I unbuttoned the straps and crossed it so that it would form an X at the back and ta dah! It fits just nice.

When I love about this piece is that it's stretchy at the waist. Don't have to worry about over eating! Furthermore, it comes with pockets! Just how adorable is that! I have a habit of walking with my hands in my pockets and I always find it a little weird if there isn't any pockets on my skirt/shorts. And of course the cutting of this piece is amazing. I always believe that Missypixie's willow items have a fabulous cutting that nvr fails to make you look slimmer. With this piece, my legs did look slimmer (yay!)

The straps are also detachable and it's just as good as a basic pair of flare shorts. In a way it gives you 2 different looks for the price of 1 hehehe. Always feel like I'm saving money when I come across items like this. This piece comes in black, grey and navy. I chose black because I don't have a pair of black flare shorts and I like buying items in black and white.

I paired it with a plain white T but you can actually pair it with different tops for a different look. Since the colour of this shorts is pretty basic, you could pair it with a 'loud' top to dress up. As I was going for brunch, I decided to go with a plain T for comfort. Thought it would be cute to wear a fedora as well since I was going to the Saddle Club where all the horsies are. Was going for a country girl kind of look. Not bad right? Btw, Missypixie is having a warehouse sale on 29 June! Do go to their facebook page for more details(:
