Yellow Cup Coffee

Cause Jo was craving for waffles, we decided to check out Yellow Cup Coffee after reading reviews of it online with our cafe hopping group!

First thought when I arrived there, they have really cute toys on all tables!! It's such an interesting concept and all of us had fun with it while waiting for our food(: Not so much on playing with it but more of figuring what each of them does haha!

So while we were waiting for our food, we were playing around with the toys. We also noticed that YCC's tables are generally quite large so they'll fit around 7-8 ppl per table. There are limited number of small tables so if you're gng in a small group, chances are you'll have to share a table with someone else! That was the case for most of the ppl sitting at a large table. A little weird but I probably wouldn't mind. But luckily for us, we occupied the whole table haha! (No one can judge us for being amazed with the toys hehe)

Scrambled and Salmon ($15)

YCC's brunch menu is pretty limited and they only have one dish that has scrambled eggs ): Most of their dishes involve poached eggs but I don't really like them so I was kind of stuck with getting waffles. Normally, I like my waffles to be topped with ice cream and chocolate. Unfortunately (or fortunately), YCC only offers fruit or the waffles you see up there! Seeing that one of the waffles had scrambled eggs, I decided to go with it! Turns out, it was really yummy! In my opinion, best dish there! The waffles were fluffy and cooked perfectly. The smoked salmon was really yummy too! Just that it made me really thirsty after haha!

Here's what Wai Yheng got! Btw she insisted on taking a photo of her with her food and the gnome. She was weirdly attracted to the gnome (I still love you Wai haha). This dish was pretty good too! A little light so definitely not for those who have a huge appetite.

Twin Salmon Nest ($15)

And here's what Lynne got! I tried the poach egg and it was surprisingly, really nice! Well that's coming from someone who doesn't really like poach eggs so that has got to mean something right? Haha! The salad looks really average though and if I'm not wrong, Lynne didn't eat it.

Grilled Ham and Cheese ($9)

Rachel ordered this and actually, I was also contemplating between this and the waffles that I got. It's your classic, simple ham and cheese sandwich. Nothing fancy but nothing bad as well(:

Fruity Waffles ($8)

And Jolene got her waffle fix! I knew she would order this out of all the waffles cause she really likes eating fruits. For $8, this is one of the cheaper waffles around. Normally, waffles are above $10 but I guess it's cause the topping for this is rather plain. It's still really good though and you should get it if you're into fruits!

And my ootd for the day! Couldn't take more shots cause it was difficult at that timing. The sun was up and the lighting was really bad but glad Jo managed to capture this(:

Symmetry

Was initially planning to check out Artistry but their service was so bad... When we arrived at Artistry, there was a group of ppl waiting for seats so we asked the waitress approximately how long it will take before we get seats. She said around 20 mins and just to be clear, but we were totally fine with waiting. Then she told us that we could go queue at the line. Only problem is, there was no line. Everyone was standing everywhere and we had absolutely no idea where the queue was. And I'm pretty sure everyone else too cause they looked equally confused as we were. So I guess it was a memory game and costumers just remembered the ppl who were there earlier than them and who came after them.

After waiting for about 20mins, we got a table. Artistry is a self service cafe so you go to the counter to order your food and that was what Rifdi and my sister did. However, they told us that almost everything we wanted was sold out. How can eggs possibly get sold out at 2pm on a Sunday when their cafe is suppose to serve brunch all day? And I'm sure we all know that eggs are pretty much in most of the dishes so that means the menu just shrunk by half. Eggs is just an example btw and many other stuff were sold out too. I honestly think that the waitress/waiters there could have told us beforehand when we went to queue that half their menu was sold out/running out. And that's the story of how we ended up at Symmetry for brunch at around 3pm. (Starvinggggg)

Symmetry is just a few blocks down Artistry and it's pretty funny actually. When we went there, we realised that everyone in the 'queue' for Artistry ended up eating at Symmetry. I guess it's cause almost everything wasn't available so Symmetry seems like a much better choice! We didn't have to wait for long as well because the cafe wasn't really crowded at that time(:

 Crispy Baby Squid

I've nvr thought of ordering this dish but the waitress highly recommended it so we decided to get it to share. It was soooo good! I'm not a huge fan of squids but this is really one of the tastier ones that I've had. I'm not sure what sauce that is but it had hints of pepper in it. Makes it a lot yummier(: A good alternative to the typical truffle fries that you'd order during lunch/brunch to share with your friends.

Truffle Eggs Mushroom

As the name of this dish suggest, the eggs were cooked with truffle oil and it was oh so tasty! I'm a huge truffle lover so this definitely appealed to me(: Not to mention, the sauteed mushrooms were good as well!

Big Breakfast

And what would a good brunch be without ordering a classic big breakfast? I was really craving for big breakfast that day cause I haven't been to a cafe for a long time due to exams and I wanted a little bit of everything! The portion is huge so it's definitely advisable to share it with a friend unless you have a huge appetite. The pink circle thing (I can't think of another word hahaha) above the bread is jam actually. Quite interesting!

Waffles

And just cause my sister and I are such sweet tooths, we ordered waffles as well. Definitely the prettiest dish of the day but also the sweetest. You wouldn't want to eat this by yourself cause it's really, super sweet. Even though the 3 of us shared, we still couldn't finish it hahaha. I guess it looks better than it tasted.

Overall, a really pleasant experience at Symmetry! Definitely lifted our moods after the buzz kill at Artistry. The tables at Symmetry are quite near each other though so probably not somewhere you'd want to have a good talk with your friend. I could actually hear the whole conversation of a couple next to us (unintentionally, of course). They happen to be on their first date so they started exchanging information and stuff and let's just say I learnt a lot of weird stuff about them hahaha!

Teapot & Giraffe

A few weeks back, I spent my afternoon at Teapot & Giraffe learning how to make coffee! And I just thought it'd be nice to share the photos from that day(:

Garden Bows

Exceptionally lots of photos for today's posts cause my brother takes really nice photos haha! Plus there's no such thing as feeling bad for asking the photographer to retake certain photos or trying different angles when the photographer is your little brother(:

Today's outfit was put tgt with the idea of being in a garden, smth picnic worthy. I didn't exactly go for a picnic but I went for a fair and so I wanted to wear smth light and breezy. Initially wanted to pair this dress with a kimono outerwear but then I'm saving that for another occasion which I'll share more details about in 2 months time after As (I can't go out now cause of As and this is really depressing but oh well)

And of course what would a picnic worthy outfit be without a straw bag! It just so happens that the bow on it is white as well so it matches my dress really well! My current favourite bag at the moment even though it's really small haha!

I can't help but share these photos. I told my bother to let me take a photo of him so that I could test the lighting. He walked there and naturally posed like this hahaha. Future model in the making?

18!

Okay I realise this post is a month late but better late than nvr right? Haha and I really want to jot this down in this space to always remind myself how lucky I am(:

I didn't celebrate my birthday on a large scale as usual where I'd throw a party and all cause it was on the week of prelims. Just 4 days before prelims actually so you can imagine the amount of studying all my friends and I were busy with. However, despite being so busy, my best friend (and may I add, awesome baker) decided to organise a mini party for me in school even though we alr made plans to go out on my birthday! She baked me an oreo cheesecake which is honestly, the best oreo cheesecake I have ever tried hehehe

My classmates stayed back on a Friday to celebrate my birthday with me(: I alr knew Jo was planning it and of course, she wouldn't be able to organise a surprise party with me literally by her side every single minute in school. (Yeah, we even go to the toilet tgt. I think it's a girls thing) She actually did manage to pull off a surprise party last year though by saying that she was too busy to bake a cake and I believed her haha! Nevertheless, she still tried to surprise me by presenting me with a box of literally a packet of oreo and cheese cause she said she didn't have time to bake.

I actually believed her cause I understood that it's prelims and everyone is studying. But before I could even respond, everyone started singing and she brought out the actual cake!

If you need to know one thing about my class, that'd be we are forever hungry. We nvr ever use plates and knifes to eat a cake. We just all grab a fork, and start devouring. Rachel once timed how long we took to eat John's cake which Jo baked as well, and we took less than 5 mins to finish it. And John's cake was bigger than mine so I guess we probably took around 4 mins to finish this. #noshame

And here's proof.

And here are more photos with some of my classmates!

(I look really unglam when I laugh, I know)

And that was about it for my 'surprise' celebration in school(:

On the actual day, Jolene celebrated it with me as well and treated me to a buffet! We actually googled on a few places and decided to have it at Swisscafe cause, actually there wasn't any specific reason hahaha.

Did I mention there were macarons?!?! I ate around 7 hehe.

After the buffet, we decided to walk over to Raffles Hotel to my favourite garden to take photos! Yeah, we pretty much ended up jumping around and pretending to gallop like horses cause there was no one there hehe.

(I can't help but point out that Jo's necklace slapped her in her face. I'm sorry Jo, I had too hahahaha)
(Just look at Jo's face hahahaha omg I don't even think it was intentional?!)

We jumped till we actually perspired a lot and we did so for about half an hour till we decided the heat is unbearable and all we wanted was to be in an air conditioned place haha! Well that was pretty much how I spent the actual day, with my bestie Jo! Special shout out to her for always taking time out for listening to my rants, problems, happiness, and pretty much just everything cause I really talk a lot(:

Of course, my family celebrated it with me too! But not on the actual day even though my mum wanted to take leave cause I told them I alr made plans. Celebrated it on a Saturday instead by gng to Astons! Decided to go to the one at the airport cause it was near my place which means I'd have more time to study (super mugger I know)

Usual car selfies with the siblings.

And here are more photos taken during dinner!

And just because there wasn't any nice photo spots at this terminal, my family went all the way to T3 just to take photos haha. Meet the Yip family.

So that's pretty much how I spent my birthday this year! A rather long post but I tried to condense it to as short as possible haha. Anywho, As are coming in less than 2 months (boohoo) so I'l probably be blogging less cause I won't be gng out that often!
