Tiong Bahru Bakery

Paid Tiong Bahru Bakery a visit after walking pass it when I was at Outram area during the June hols. And who better to go with then with Kylie! I haven't met her in 4 years (very long right?) so I thought that that would be a nice place to sit down and have a conv without feeling all guilty for 'hogging' the seats. It's not that the bakery is really big but I guess it's because Outram Park has lots of cafes. So if it's crowded, ppl can just check out another cafe haha!

Chocolate Almond Croissant

Tiong Bahru Bakery is famous for their croissants so of course I couldn't give it a miss when I'm there! I'm not a huge croissant fan but this was definitely really, really tasty. It's so crispy and fresh! One thing to note though, I couldn't finish it cause we bought other pastries as well haha! Definitely advisable to share it with a friend so that you can try out other pastries (which you definitely would want to cause they're so pretty)

Chocolate Croissant

And Kylie ordered a croissant too! If you ask me, the almond one was a lot nicer so unless you hate almonds, get the almond one instead! Kylie faced the same issue with me and that is, we both didn't finish our croissants haha!

Banana Chocolate Crumble

And this was the highlight of the meal for us! I've previously tried their apple crumble and thought that it was super good! So I decided to try another flavour and of course it didn't disappoint hehe. It's rich in chocolate so a definite must try for chocolate lovers! Definitely have to share it with a friend if not it probably will get too sweet. If you're not that keen on chocolate, try out apple or berry flavour! The crumble is just super good and you shouldn't give it a miss.

Mixed Fruit Tart

And to counter the sweetness of the chocolate, we decided to get smth a little sour. I really like this cause I'm a berry person. Could go without it though cause it wasn't anything spectacular.

Cappuccino

We both ordered a cup of Cappuccino cause eating bread alone without coffee is just... weird. Haha! And it also makes our instagram photo so much nicer. Just look at the photo below.

Yup, a cup of coffee definitely makes the photo complete.

So that's it for this post. Currently very deprived of gng out cause prelims are nearing so bear with me for these few weeks! Won't be updating this page as often as I'd like to but I'm definitely gng to be back after!

Escape Hunt: Sherlock Holmes Edition

(Sponsored)

Whoop whoop! Super, extremely happy to have been invited for an escape room event again! I've had a lot of fun when I went to the escape room the other time so I'd say I did have quite high expectations for this one as well. Just to be clear but Escape Hunt and Phantom Joker Escape are 2 different places(:

This time round, I could bring a +1 and who else but Jolene to bring! It was extra fun having her around and both of us panicked, cracked our brains and solved the mystery tgt. We went for the event straight after school which explains why we're both in school u hahaha.

Escape Hunt is super convenient to get to actually. It's located in between Dhoby Ghaut and Somerset and is about a 5mins walk from both MRTs. Jo and I got off at Dhoby and walked there. It's in the Concorde Hotel and Shopping Mall which is right next to Plaza Singapura and near the Istana. There's no way you can miss it cause it's quite a big building.

What struck me first was definitely the interior decor of the place. I was totally in shock cause this wasn't what I expected it to look like. The Lit student in me got all excited cause I felt like I was brought to Britain which is what I'm currently studying about now! The staff there shared with us that the sofa you see in the photos are actually custom made by the owner! And even the wooden chairs(which aren't in the photos) were specially selected from an antique store. I was really amazed at the amount of thought placed behind the furnishing. The decor definitely provides you with a different perspective and the amount of thought that what behind the decor is commendable(:

And here's our game master for the day! She's really friendly and super approachable! Her bubbly personality kind of reminded me of Bubbles from PPG hehe. Well so we were split into groups and I was in the same group with Jolene, Serene and Timonthy. Jo and I didn't know Serene and Tim before the event but we soon became friends and now are all IG buddies :D

So as with every escape game, our game master shared with us the backdrop of the mystery that we're suppose to solve. For this game, we were detectives and are suppose to solve the mystery of a murder. I can't rmb the exact details but you'd find out when you're there. She also shared that for every hint we ask for, a minute will be deducted from our timer.

We all placed our bags in a corner and off we go to become Sherlock Angie, Jolene, Serene and Tim!

Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, no cameras and phones for this event and hence, no photos of the room. But I probably wouldn't post it if I have it anw cause then it ruins the fun. Well anw, we had an hr to solve the mystery and I'm so proud to say.... WE DID IT!!! First time for both Jo and I to have solved a crime! Have to give credit to our game master though cause she prompted us here and there but we didn't explicitly asked for help so we didn't have to forefeit any time. That also mean that the hints she gave us were really subtle which is quite awesome cause it just make us feel more like successful detectives.

And now comes the best part... we were all given cute little costumes to dress like SHERLOCK HOLMES. My heart skipped like 20 beats or smth when they told us we could take photos in them and to spice things up, they even provided props as well to fit the whole Sherlock theme.

And a spam of photos happened #noshame

And a few individual shots which Jo kindly offered to help take (:

I'm quite sure my group spent a good 20 mins taking photos. Serene and Tim both had cameras too so they had to keep switching cameras haha! But I'm quite excited to read their blogs to see how those photos turned out! We changed poses and props with every photo so none would be repetitive! Thank god for spontaneous friends who poses as ridiculously as you so that you won't look retarded alone hehehe. The photo op is available for everyone who takes part in the Escape Hunt so don't worry, you can get a chance too!

After which, they provided us with light refreshments. One thing really special about Escape Hunt is that they offer complimentary biscuits and tea. And their teas are from TWG! My absolute favourite. Tea and biscuits, how much more English can it get!

Ah, good ol tea after the game to just sit back, relax and look through photos.

For those of you interested in checking Escape Hunt out, here are their price rates!

2 pax - $38/pax
3 pax - $33/pax
4 pax - $30/pax
5 pax - $28/pax

Their rates work in a way which makes it more worth it to go in a group. Personally, it's probably more fun to go in a group as well cause more brains are definitely better. Especially for such mind boggling games.

If you're planning on gng in a pair, fret not cause they won't combine groups! The whole room will still be exclusively yours(: So no worries on making a fool of yourself in front of stranger hahaha. Btw, this is totally a valid concern cause some of the things you end up saying in there are super embarrassing. Omg, everything in there seems suspicious to the 4 of us that basically we picked up every single object and went "do you think this is important"

Escape Hunt isn't the cheapest but they provide great value for money as they deliver much better games than anyone out there. *nods head in approval* In fact, their games and designed by a UK Mensa member, who has a Masters in Psychology from Cambridge. They are multi-dimensional, and non-linear. Their game play follows a strong story line and are logical, not random.

I'd definitely recommend if you're looking to try out smth new and trust me when I say it'll be worth it(: I know quite a few of my friends are interested in gng and I hope you'll find this post useful!

Mandatory selfies to end the post hehe

Sports Luxe

Was super attracted to this top when I saw Joyce wearing it before the preview was even up! I rmb telling my sister that I must get this top and I actually had quite a hard time deciding between white and black. Followed my sister's opinion and got black in the end!

I'm wearing S for this but I probably can fit into XS snugly. I was afraid that stretch marks could be seen if it was too tight and I figured the top will look ok even if it was loose so I stuck to size S.

Oh! And can you tell but the skirt I'm wearing is only $10 hahaha! So worth it! Bugis street is really the place to go if you're looking for cheap and basic apparels. The shop that I entered happened to be having a moving out sale so everything was mad cheap. I actually bought this skirt to match another top that I own which I also got from Bugis street and I can't wait to wear that set out!

Of Floral and Lace

Messy bun don't care.

That's currently how I feel now cause I'm down with an insanely high fever. When the thermometer measured 40.3 degrees, I was quite sure that it was spoilt cause I saw it skip from 38 degrees to 39. It's suppose to skip decimal points and not a whole number! Turns out, I was really having a high fever when I got my temp measured at the clinic again. So I'm currently being suspected of having dengue/H1N1 and I was just ??? when the doctor told me. Didn't H1N1 died in 09 alr. But oh well, that's if my fever remains as high the next 3 days. So fingers crossed it'll go back down cause I really, really don't want to do a blood test!

But back to this post. I've previously saw this top from Pull and Bear but didn't get it cause I thought it was a little too pricey and it was a little long for me. So I was super glad when I saw a blogshop selling it at a much pocket friendly price. Material wise, the one from Pull and Bear was definitely nicer because it was thicker and more structured. This one was a lot thinner and slightly flimsy. Not much of an issue though cause it can't really be seen hahaha! Would choose this one over the Pull and Bear one anyday simply cause of the price.

Oh! And here's my attempt at a messy bun. Yeah... it didn't go too well cause it got really messy in the end hahaha! Problem of having too much hair. But I've just recently got a haircut so I guess I can try it again sometime soon(:

Phantom Joker Escape

(Sponsored)

I was really happy to have been given an opportunity to take part in the Phantom Joker Escape with a few other bloggers because everyone is talking about it recently and the concept sounds really cool! It's super coincidental actually cause just a day before I received an email on this, I was out with Vanessa, Shericia and Lynn and we were talking about trying it out someday!

I'm sure most of us are kind of aware about how the escape room works. You're basically put in a locked room where you have to think like detectives in order to piece the clues tgt and find a way out of the room! The Phantom Joker is actually founded by a group of real escape enthusiasts who wanted to present their own inspiration and understanding of the real escape game after trying so many in Sg and overseas. Thank god for this group of ppl cause now we get to play it too!

Here's how the place looks like. Pardon the poor lighting but it was really late when I took it so it's not really clear. It's located in the conservation house near Outram. It's super easy to get too actually and is about a 5mins walk from the MRT. Plus points for its convenient location! (Especially since most of us can't drive hahaha)

When you walk in the Phantom Joker Escape, you'll see a reception desk and the rooms can't really be seen at first. You have to walk down the hallway to go to those rooms. At the back of the place, there's also a spacious resting area and that's where I made friends with the other bloggers before the event! Since we're going to be tgt for an hr, it's best to get to know one another so things won't be awkward haha!

Here's the game master explaining the backdrop of the game. So for every room you enter, there's a story behind it. You find out information such as who died, what happened, what role you're playing etc. It's pretty interesting actually cause you get to be someone else for as long as you're in the room.

He also shared with us that they have 3 rooms with different scenarios to play. The first room (Episode 01 Mysterious Lab Lost in Time) is their most popular room because they don't use locks in there. So that means that everything is triggered by something that you do. I really wanted to go for it but it was occupied at that time so we went for the other 2 rooms instead.

We were split into 2 groups, 1 with 5 ppl each. The one I went for was Path B, The Fallen Star in the Ancient Villa. We chose that room cause the game master did say that the other room is scarier. It isn't like horror kind of scary but we're just all really timid so we took the safer route hahaha! It'll definitely be fun though if you're up for those kind of things!

So we were brought inside a room and given walkie talkies to call for help if we needed. We were given 2 chances to use it and in the end, we used all of it haha! Both times, the game master came in and walked us through the steps. He didn't just gave us the answers but guided us through it instead. So that's really nice cause then you get to try it out still! I won't reveal the details cause that it won't be fun for you guys to try it out if you know what's gng to happen. I'll reveal this though that everything is not what it seems.

My group all cracked our brains trying to solve the puzzles and had so much fun in the process! It's just such a great sense of achievement for being able to solve even 1 puzzle. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to escape (boohoo). But the game master did come in after to explain to us how to solve the last puzzle which we were stucked at and it was the "ohhhh" moment when we realised.

Well here are some photos from inside the room. I only took photos of certain items to give you an idea of what you can expect so that I won't spoil the fun! Oh yeah, do note that usually, you aren't allowed to bring your phones or cameras in! They do have lockers for you to place your bags so it wouldn't be a hassle for you to carry it around (:

If you're close to solving the mystery and are running out of time, don't fret cause the staff there are really friendly and will usually provide addition gaming time if you ask!

And here's my group for the day (except for Corliss) and I made friends with all of them!

And here's a really cute chalk board at the entrance!

If you're interested in checking this place out, here are the price rates!

Mon-Fri 12.30pm-6pm: $22/pax
Mon-Fri 6pm-10.30pm: $28/pax
Sat, Sun, PH 11am-10.30pm: $28/pax

Personally, I think that Phantom Joker Escape is definitely a suitable place for corporate events or for team building purposes. You really have to work tgt to try and escape the room so teamwork is essential! It's also definitely a good alternative from the usual movie and shopping dates. It gives you a better sense of satisfaction! I'm looking forward to coming here with my group of friends one day for a change!

Tropical Blues

Guess who got her early birthday present from mummy! I've been eyeing on this Kate Spade bag ever since I saw Andrea's photos. It's just so pretty and perfect for sunny Singapore! Personally, I do feel it's a little pricey for it's material but oh well, it's just too pretty to give a miss.

Oh! And the dress I'm wearing was bought on the same day as well. My family went crazy shopping over the hols and we all managed to buy stuff! Don't you just love sales? It's kind of like a trap cause you end up spending more than you normally would but.... you get such good deals! Got this dress from Stradivarius at $50! I don't usually wear tube dresses/shirts but I thought I should give it a try at the dressing room anw since I was trying on other clothes. And now, I'm addicted to finding such apparels!

I also kind of miss my bangs but I'll probably cut it back after prom hahaha. In the mean time, getting used to being able to see my eyebrows again. A little heads up! There'll be a post on 2 Escape games that I went for soon so keep a look out for that!
