Summer Woes

It's finally CNY eve! I've been counting down to this short break ever since school started! It's kind of what every student do right? Find out when's the nearest holiday then count down to it(:

Well I'm currently down with a flu so I'm confined to my room. I swear I'm not making excuses to sleep all the time but the medicine my doctor prescribed are just so drowsy! After I'm done with this post, I'm gng back to sleep.

Today's outfit post features what I wore during the third day in Shanghai(: I didn't take lots of photos on that day as I normally do but this is really one of my fav outfit I wore. I was really bundled up and it's definitely my comfiest outfit. I just love wearing knits and when I saw this knitted scarf from Zara, I just couldn't resist! It was so warm and fluffy and it makes a good head rest hahahaha!

This outfit is quite a dull outfit in terms of colours. Not what you'd usually expect me to wear but colours like these are perfect for winter! It's just the whole idea of being cosy and I really wish it's cold outside right now. Oh what I would give to grab my coat and scarf out of the luggage, enter a random cafe with my book and order a cup of hot chocolate. #summerwoes

Yu Garden Bazaar

Yu Garden Bazaar is a very popular tourist destination in Shanghai because of the amazing food that can be found there. What do you think of when you think of the word bazaar? Personally, I think of lights lighting up a dark street, street side food, performances and shops selling mini items. Well other than the performances, everything else can be found at Yu Garden Bazaar(:

During our 7 days in Shanghai, we went to YGB twice actually. The first time was a quick trip for lunch so we didn't have time to shop. The second time was the best because we had about an hr of free time to wander off on our own. YGB is actually Jolene's favourite place we visited and although it wasn't my ultimate favourite (my favourite being Tian Zi Fang), it definitely is on my top 5 places to go in Shanghai.

Being able to go to YGB both during the day and night is really an amazing experience. It's definitely one of the more 'traditional' places in Shanghai. Here's how it looks in the day!

And at night!

Well of course I preferred it at night with all the lights but it was really hard to capture nice images of the place. These photos don't do YGB justice but I tried my best to snap some shots! Group 1 being group 1, the first shop we entered was a food shop. Those that sell Shanghai snacks in packet form so that we can bring some home for our friends and family. After being in Shanghai for 4 days then, all these shops really sell the same type of snack. Nothing new so HJ and I decided to fool around and take photos instead haha!

One of my things to eat in Shanghai list consisted of Bing Tang Hu Lu. The first time I ate it in Shanghai was on the first day actually when we went shopping. The second time was at YGB and this time, I manage to persuade Jolene to get one too!

Krittin also managed to find a shop which sells Tang Bao. For all of you who don't really know what it is, Tang Bao is basically like Xiao Long Bao. Just that it's wayyyyy bigger and you actually use a straw to drink the soup. Don't get what I mean? Well here are some photos to show you guys!(:

Unfortunately, the store we visited was quite bad actually... We couldn't really drink any soup and I think that our baos were placed in the open for a long period of time cause the skin was hard. We did pass by another stall which sold Tang Baos too though. Didn't try it cause we were alr super full haha! But Tang Baos are definitely a must try when you're in Shanghai! Such a unique experience

We roamed around a little more and before we knew it, it was time for dinner so we all headed back to the restaurant. I'd definitely recommend going at night instead of the day because the lights make the place a lot prettier! I don't know why but to me, a bazaar should be at night, where all the crowds start to form. It really makes you feel like you're at a bazaar? Haha weird but that's just how I feel(:

Here are a few more shots from YGB!

January Updates

With this year being so hectic and all, I thought I'd change my way of blogging a little. Instead of blogging about the events that have been happening in my life, I'd thought I'd just do it all up in one post at the end of the month(: You still can expect ootd and food posts but probably not that often haha!

1. Orientation Training Workshop
In case you guys haven't known yet, I'm an orientation leader!! Anyone going to SRJC this year? Haha! So as you guys know, we had to go through a mini camp where we learnt all the school dance, cheers, conflict management, college tour routine etc. It actually happened on the weekends so I had to sacrifice my sleep time for school. Oh well, at least the friends I made there were worth it! I had quite a lot of fun throughout the workshop and made lots of new friends!

2. SR Fashion Show
Out of the OGLs, they chose a few to take part in the orientation fashion show. It's basically just the modelling of the uniforms. It might sound a little boring but the prep was one of the best times ever! Jolene and I were both chosen (yay!) and we were split into groups. I'm in the full u group while she's in the half u group. I swear, the full u group has the coolest and cutest people ever. It consist of Barnabas, Denise, Kei Chi, Jia Ren, Melia and me(: We had so much fun during the rehearsals trying out different poses and just making a fool of ourselves. Barnabas and I have also been officially labelled as the cute, tiny couple. Well a little awkward but haha! We made the best out of it and I'm so excited for our fashion show rehearsal tmr!

3. SRJC Open House
As every other school, SR had our very own open house. Well I wouldn't say I had much fun then. To be honest, it was quite boring for us. We had to stay in school till 5pm even though we had no lessons at all. So we were all pretty much just cooped up in our classrooms half the time... Suppose to go round and rara but we were all really tired from the week that we had. Well smth good did come out of it though! I made a few new friends! After awhile, I just went round talking to random SRJCians. That was how bored I was haha! And I almost got to know a few people better, specifically Ruben, Calvin and Adrian(: Ended up touring the college with Calvin and gng round disturbing the ppl at the booths, dancing with Ruben at the SRGCE booths and jamming with Adrian in class.

(Ruben is 180cm+. Don't judge)

4. Choreographing for Lit Night
If you've been following me on instagram, you'd heard me talk about lit night once in awhile. Well basically lit night is an annual event held by the lit cohort. We have a really amazing performance in school to showcase all of our amazing, hopefully existent acting/dancing/singing skills. A lot of work goes into the show actually. We have to stay back on Tues and Thurs till 7pm to rehearse. Jolene, Karis and I decided to dance so we've been having practices now and then. This is actually my first time choreographing and I was rather apprehensive at first. Glad to say that everything went well and we're almost done with the choreography.

5. Dance Practices
Every year, each house comes up with a walk in which is basically a dance. So all of us had to stay back on certain days to rehearse. It's actually really fun and I look forward to all these rehearsals because of the crazy things that goes on. We would shout and sing the songs, dance like no one's looking and perspire a lot. Our house's dance is really, really tiring. It's pretty much some aerobic exercise cause there's a lot of jumping around haha! Guess it doubles up as a good work out as well!

6. Daddy's in town!
My dad has been working in Hong Kong since I was P1 and that's a good 10 years away from family! Don't get me wrong, he does come back to visit really often and we fly over during the dec hols to visit him but it's just different without him around. Well my dad has finally hit the time for retirement after working so hard to support the family. He came back to Singapore this month and will be staying here for about 1.5months, the longest he's stayed in Singapore in one shot! So I've been spending a lot more time with the family going out for meals and all(: He'll be gng back to HK at the end of Feb though and we'll see how things go from there!

7. Mr. Goh's Wedding
I've dedicated a post to what happened that day so I shan't say more(:

8. OOTDs!
So I guess this point doesn't need much explanation? Haha!
