Riders Cafe: Lunch with the horsies

Been bugging my sister to take me out for brunch for quite awhile now and finally we decided to go out for brunch. We knew a lot of places to go for brunch but couldn't seem to choose where to go as we wanted to go to places that were more inconvenient (since my sister could drive hehehe) After much deliberation, we decided to go to the Riders Cafe!

Upon reaching our destination, the first thing that hit me was omg, this place is impossible to get to without a car. There isn't any public transport nearby and even if there is, it will require a lot of walking on your part to get to the place. Under the scorching sun, I'm pretty sure none of us wants to be in the heat for too long. Thus I wouldn't recommend the place if you don't have a car to get there. I guess I can't bring my friends there cause none of us can drive ):

I originally thought the place was air conditioned but turns out, it wasn't. Then again, if it was, something about the place just wouldn't seem right. The fact that it was not air conditioned kind of tied the whole place together. The cafe is a place where you can escape from the hustle and bustle of our everyday live. I felt like I was at a countryside actually and I must say, it feels nice to feel all laid back once in a while. It really is somewhere where you can take a break. You know what I mean? But in order to create such an atmosphere, the place has to be somewhere a little inaccessible to maintain the serenity. Hence, the inconvenience to get there without a car.

And here's what we ordered!

Saffron Risotto & Seared Hokkaido Scallops with Saffron & Baby Broccoli ($24)
This dish was ordered by my brother and it was quite decent. I tried a spoonful of the Risotto and it was chewy and creamy. However, he couldn't finish it because after awhile as he found it too creamy. Such a waste though so I guess it's better to share it with someone.

Crab Salad Roll with Brioche Bread, Baby Cos, Gherkin, Avocado & Seasoned Fries
When my mum told me what she ordered, I wasn't sure what to expect. I kind of thought it would be like a sandwich but in a rolled up form? Well here's how it looked like. I thought that this was the best main course out of everything we ordered. The crab was really, really good and the fries was made just nice as well. Thumbs up!

Spaghetti Aglio e Olio with Crabmeat, Spinach, Chili Oil, Garlic and Parsley($24)
If you constantly follow my post, you'd know I have a weird tendency to want to eat Aglio Olio. When I saw it on the menu, I knew I had to try it! So here it is! I found it pretty good and the garlic flavour was quite strong. In fact I'm pretty sure my breath smelt like garlic the next few hours (oopsy, embarrassing) but definitely worth the try if you love Aglio Olio.

Smoked Chicken Salad with Apples, Sun-dried Tomatoes, Tortilla & Wholegrain Mustard($15)
Here's what my sister got but I didn't try it cause I'm not a fan of salad. I actually don't eat anything that's raw. According to her, it wasn't anything special. Kind of just like a normal salad but the fact that they added apple was quite nice.

Death by Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream
When we saw this on the menu, we knew we had to get it! It was also recommended by ladyironchef. It was a lot bigger than what we expected. We thought it would be a small cake, the kind that would be gone within a few bites. Turns out, the portion was quite big! Definitely need to share this one. Do get it if you have a sweet tooth(:

Overall I had a really pleasant experience and the staff were really friendly as well. I really love going to places like this where all I see are green land. Sometimes I find myself trapped in such a fast pace city I lose track of what's important. I guess we all should just take a step back and enjoy what God created. Btw, yup you can see horses around :D

Here are some more photos we took(:

Day out with the sister!

My sister and I have been complaining about our horrible hair for soooooo long but our hairstylist was on vacation so we had to wait for him to come back to get our haircut. Hahaha! So glad he's finally back so that we can fix our hair. Yeah, we both go to the same hairdresser and we always go tgt to get our haircut. We both get our haircuts at Chapter 2 by Eri. I love talking to him because he is quite young too and he's super funny. He's always asking me if I have a boyfriend alr though hahaha!

The photo on the left was before and the right was after my haircut! I really couldn't stand my fringe anymore because it was at the worst length ever! It kept poking my eye but it was too short to be pinned up properly so I decided to just cut it shorter.  I didn't cut my hair length but cut thinner instead cause my hair is really thick. Everytime I go to a hairdresser, he would definitely comment on my thick hair hahaha. At least I don't have to worry about having not enough hair!

Then we went around shopping and I bought a cute pinafore shorts from Kissjane. My sister bought quite a few items too and we are both crazily in love with missypixie. It was the first rack we went too when we went to Kissjane! I'm actually thinking if I should get the floral romper from misspixie or I should just wait for the next collection since there is always something I want from each collection. Whoops I shop a little too much haha

Then we went to Anderson's for dessert! We had such a hard time deciding if we should get the Apply Crumble Delight or the Brownie set. We resorted to playing scissors paper stone to decide which to get hahaha! And here's what we got in the end(:

We had a choice of 2 ice creams so we each chose 1. We got the Cookies N Cream and Belgian Chocolate ice cream(: Both were really nice and I would love to go back to Anderson to try their other flavours. This set cost $12.90 and my sister treated me to it hehehe. Don't you love having older siblings? :D

Young Explorer

Rmb how I mentioned I have quite a few overalls in one of my previous post? Well here's another overall and this one is from Forever New. It's my only blue denim overall actually and I love it because it gives me an explorer kind of look. It's perfect for a day out to a theme park, cycling or even to the zoo!

I've worn this overall a lot of times. 5 at least? It's considered really often for me cause I normally don't like to repeat my clothes. However this piece is just too cute! Cause of my horrible sun burn, I have to dress to cover it up these few days so I wear a T shirt under the overall instead of a singlet. Don't you think denim overalls are just the most classic overalls ever? I mean overalls did start from these kind and slowly changed over the years. Thus, I do feel that all of us overall lovers should own at least 1 denim blue overall.

I originally planned to go cycling today so I wore my comfy shoes which have weathered all the storms with me. It once got so wet in the rain, the colour changed to black and there was water coming out of it whenever I walk hahaha. I know this may sound silly but I have noticed that Adidas shoes do make your legs look slimmer. At least I feel that way when I wear a pair of Adidas as compared to other brands. Plus they do not spoil easily and the colour doesn't fade. My pair of red vans can't be washed actually because the colour comes off so easily!

Paired it with a cute little backpack simply because it would be the most convenient to cycle with. I also wore a watch because it's pretty hard to check the time on your phone when you're cycling(Not a awesome biker here)

PS. I climbed a tree to take all these photos and it was my first time climbing one and it was sooooo hilarious cause I was afraid I'd fall half the time hehe

Flower Power

This is my 3rd time wearing this dress and I'm finally doing a post on it. When I first saw this dress online, I knew I had to get it. It was just so me! Flower, flower and more flower :D It's perfect for a day out somewhere where there is greenery. It's also really casual so I can wear it almost everywhere!

This is one of the sweetest dress I own and it's actually really girly. I saw it on a few websites in different colours but I still feel that this dress looks nicest in this shade of blue. I felt really happy whenever I wear this out. Furthermore, the material is just nice for sunny Singapore. It isn't too thin but neither is it flimsy. Thumbs up!

I paired it with a few beaded bracelets I have and my favourite pair of sandals. Coincidentally, the colours on my sandals matches that of my dress which means... a perfect combination!

Checkmate

Here's a little something fun to spice up my lazy Saturday. Okay I had some qualms whether I should wear this out cause I know it'd attract attention but I did it anw. Live life to the fullest right? In case you're wondering, yes I did get stares along Orchard Road hahaha! But I was out with my family so we were talking in Cantonese so people probably thought that we were tourists and stopped looking. I originally only bought the top cause I don't normally wear shorts but I bought it in the end cause I was afraid I'd regret it when I'm home.

I vividly rmb that when my sister's bf saw me, the first thing he said was ''You look like an optical illusion''. HAHAHA! Well I agree but it's quite a pretty fun outfit. I'm still more of a skirt kind of girl so I'm on the lookout for 2 piece outfit that comes with a skirt. The shorts didn't fit me too well actually so I'm planning on selling it.

Does this outfit gives you a 80s feel? I know I felt like I was going to a disco with the colours on me and the chunky armcandy. Okay well I had my fun and probably won't wear this outfit tgt again hehehe.

Clear, Blue Seas

Wore this outfit on the 2nd day of my fishing trip. When I was packing for the trip, I expected really sunny weather so of course I had to dress up for the temperature. I wanted to be comfy too because there would be a lot of movement involved. Sooooo I brought my comfiest shorts ever! I've had this pair of shorts for about 5 years?? Yeah... I'm pretty sure it's the oldest clothe I have in my wardrobe. The fact that this pair of shorts is 5 years old and is still going strong proves the amazing quality of it. It doesn't ride up like some of my other shorts do so it's definitely a keeper. Roxy is definitely my first choice when it comes to denim shorts.

When you think of hot weather, you'd think of tank tops and sleeveless tops too! This is exactly what I thought of when hot weather pops into my mind. Threw on a Cotton On tank and a summer top from HnM. I bought both at a really cheap price so I could get all dirty during my fishing trip and not have to worry about my clothes. Add on a pair of flip flops to complete this summer look and I'm done.
