Christmas Buffet

Hello all! How was your Christmas? (: I had a splendid one and I spent it with my family. I didn't really do anything much in the afternoon other than watch Modern Family but the night event was sure splendid.

We went for a dinner buffet at Window On The Park at Holiday Inn at Orchard. Last year, we also went for a dinner buffet haha! It kind of feels like a tradition now. Every Christmas, we will go for buffets. It's just that we don't really have any relatives here so we don't host parties or stuff like that.

Our reservation was at 6.30pm but we got there a little early so we went to the hotel lobby to take some photos. It was quite awkward actually cause we spent such a long time taking photos by the Christmas tree! Hahaha that's what happens when you go out with the Yip family.

Before we knew it, it was time to eat! I would say that the restaurant was pretty small. There wasn't a lot of choices for the food as well. But that didn't really bother me because I was only interested in the desserts. The original price per person was $134++ which honestly, isn't really worth it. We had a 40% off per person though cause we reserved early. Thank god we did cause the spread there wasn't worth the original price.

Just to show you guys how the place looks like(:

And the food!

Obviously there were a lot of other food. I didn't really take as much photos because I was too hungry and really only interested in desserts. You know how ppl start with soup or salads first? I start with dessert haha! So here's a glimpse of their dessert selection.

Some of my favourites are the red velvet cake, christmas cookies and fruit tarts. The cookies were soooo good! I'm gng to start a cookie hunt and try to find places that sell them. Anyone know of a place which sells nice cookies?

After dinner, we walked to Somerset to see the Christmas lights. It took us about 5 mins to get there. I was so glad I wore my comfy heels that day hehe. Ended off the night by playing mahjong at home(I won btw yay!) and then lights out.

Well that was how my Christmas went. It was really simple, no grand party whatsoever but I like it that way(: Being single means that I get to spend these festivities with my siblings and parents so that's pretty awesome haha! We were joking and saying a few years down the road, our table would be huge with wanwan's kid, my boyfriend and brother's girlfriend. We're planning to spend Christmas next year in Hong Kong so that should be fun cause all my nieces and nephews will be there(: Till next year!

Snuggled Up

Let me start off by saying... Merry Christmas everyone!! (: It's the most wonderful time of the year hehe! I haven't been gng out this week cause I'm not feeling well. I haven't actually recovered but I have plans for a dinner buffet tonight and am not planning to let this illness stop me.

It's always the month of December that gets me reminiscing about all my winter trips - Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Shanghai, India, Perth. It's just the idea of being able to snuggle up in my knits with a hot Starbucks drink in my hand. Christmas just isn't the same in Singapore where it is super hot.

So here's my collection of knits for Singapore :D It doesn't include the thick ones cause they're all in my luggage and I'm too lazy to take them out haha!

Back to today's post, I just love the idea of layering. It's a little hard to do it in Singapore cause of the mega hot weather but I'm still planning to try it here one day hehe. I bought this top from Stradivarius and I absolutely love the colour of it. The different shades of pink and grey just matches really well. Layered it with a simple denim shirt and I was ready to face 10 degrees Shanghai haha!

As most of you know, I'm not a fan of jeans. I actually only own 1 pair of jeans and I had it since sec 2 hahahahaha. I sound really deprived but jeans are just not my thing. So that's a problem I face in cold countries. I mean I can't be walking around with a pair of shorts. I found a really good substitute for jeans and that it skirt leggings. I always say no to anyone wearing leggings as pants but I'm really ok with skirt leggings. I love it actually! I have about 4 pairs at home. They're just really comfy and cute.

Anw, hope you guys will enjoy today and once again, merry christmas(:

Korean BBQ: 왕대박 Wang Dae Bak

Ever since Rifdi brought me out for a Korean BBQ earlier this year (which you can read about here), I've always wanted to go again! Since it's the hols now, I finally have time to go out and enjoy myself hehe. So I texted Rifdi that I really wanted to have Korean BBQ and he brought my siblings and I to Wang Dae Bak.

As usual, we were served with loads of side dishes. My favourite would have to be the mash potato and egg. I don't eat raw food so I actually didn't try a lot of the side dishes haha! Everyone says I'm missing out but oh well... If I had to compare the side dishes to the one at Mid-Night House, I'd say the ones at Mid-Night House were nicer. With that being said, according to Rifdi, Mid-Night House now charge for extra servings of side dishes. The one at Wang Dae Bak is free flow so we could eat as much as we want haha!

Boneless Prime Rib ($28)
Marinated Prime Rib ($28)

Personally, I couldn't taste much difference between the marinated and non-marinated rib. Only Rifdi could taste the difference haha! The meat was really chewy and juicy which is awesome. I'm drooling thinking about it actually hehe. I don't really have much to say but it's definitely yummy.

Beef Brisket ($28)

This is like the kind of beef you use to steamboat, the flat kind. Personally, I prefer the ribs cause they're a lot juicier. I didn't like eating the fats of this either hahaha!

After dinner, we decided to get ice cream. Wang Dae Bak sells melon ice cream and you should really try it if you're gng there! It's really yummy and milky. It melts really fast though and mine was dripping all over haha! So glad that I got to try it :D

In my opinion, Mid-Night House is better than this place. Just that it's a little inconvenient to get to if you don't have a car. Wang Dae Bak is about a 10 mins walk from Chinatown/ Tanjong Pagar MRT so it's more accessible. I'm a huge fan of Korean BBQ and I'm thinking of trying out a new place again! Any recommendations? :D

Love Bonito Christmas Tea Party

My sister and I went to Love Bonito's Christmas tea party yesterday at the Mandarin Gallery. My sister is a loyal no.1 fan of LB (as you can see from her IG hahaha) and has got me into it as well! Recently, I've been purchasing a lot of their clothes and am always finding myself eagerly waiting for their next collection. LB invited my sister over for a tea party that they organised and she brought me for her +1 hehe.

Upon arriving, we started to eat. I wasn't really hungry cause I already had lunch but the pretty Christmas pastries caught my eye! In the end, I tried almost all the desserts available even though I was full haha! Christmas related things just get me so excited!! And now I'm anticipating the dessert selection at the buffet I'll be gng on Wed(:

LB always have great customer service and I'm so glad they go the extreme and make the extra effort to get to know their clients. What other blogshop would organise such a grand event to let their customers mingle around? I saw so many familiar faces there that I always see on instagram.

Well anw, we all could do a little Christmas shopping as well! They were selling 8 different items that day and they were all on display. All the sizes and colours were shown so that we could see for ourselves how it is like! I was really tempted to get a dress there but in the end chose not to cause I know I'll only wear it once. Moreover, I'm very sure I'll see smth I like in their next few collections so I'm saving my money for then! (:

Before we left, we managed to take a picture with the 2 lovely owners, Viola and Rachel! I'm so happy to say that I've finally met them!!! They are just so friendly and sociable. :D

And time to include my ootd post in hehe. Because it was a LB event, I decided to dress in LB! In fact, almost everyone there was dressed in LB apparels haha! There were ppl wearing the same top/bottom as me but we all matched it differently. It's so interesting to see how other ppl match their outfits together. For those curious, my sister was in a LB dress as well.

Lately, I've been super into monochrome outfits. If you follow my IG, you will be able to notice a trend haha! It's not that I deliberately want to be dressed in black and white but somehow I just always end up in monochrome colours. I think it's cause my sister and I tend to buy outfits in black or white cause they're just such basic colours! So easy to mix and match.

I shall not talk much about the top cause I've previously blogged about the same top in black which you can read about it here. I've also previously talked about the shoes here. I just really want to concentrate on the skirt.

Let's all take a minute to agree how pretty this skirt is haha! I received lots of compliments from my friends about this skirt! Even my mum told me that it's really nice :D This is my very first Covet item from LB and I have no regrets getting it even though it's a bit pricier than regular skirts from blogshops. Size XS fits me with slight allowance at the waist. It's just so hard to find bottoms that fit me now and this skirt is a perfect fit! Time to say bye to your perfect little black dress and say hello to your perfect little black skirt (: Skirts are just so much more versatile than dresses which is why I've been buying a lot of skirts this month hehe.

I absolutely love the sheer panel on the skirt. It's just the little things that make a plain black skirt stand out. I'm actually contemplating to get the one in white as well! If I don't shop the next few days, I might very well end up buying it hehe. I was initially a little concern about the length, that it would be too long but it turns out that the length it just nice(: A must get for petite girls! Nothing but rave for this skirt.
