TAL: Opposition

How do you feel about a mash up of styles? Today's post features a mash up of a feminine top with a little street chic twist. If you've been really observant, yes, I did blog about the exact same top in white which you can read about it here! So I won't be talking about the quality of this top but more of its style(:

Personally, I prefer the white version to the black one because I'm a fan of light coloured tops. Nth wrong with black but I tend to have darker coloured bottoms so it would be harder for me to find smth to match it with. Today, I went with my basic blue skater and added a cap and wedge shoes for a street chic look. You could also pair it with a pair of denim shorts for a more casual look.

Once in awhile, I like to try smth new and I always thought that a skirt with a pair of sneakers can look effortlessly chic and edgy. It's different from your usual sandals and pumps which makes a whole outfit girly. Hence, today's outfit (: Recently, I've been super into laser prints and my next outfit post will also feature a laser cut out dress so do look out for it!

Do check out TAL's Facebook page here and follow them on instagram at @theangelslabel for updates!

PS. Yesterday I went to the JFxLB fashion show which I'll blog about soon! Saw so many celebs yesterday and I'm still star stuck haha!

TAL: Key-Hole

I always say that basics are a must have in every girl's wardrobe. Even though it's worth having dresses for special occasions, I still believe that basics are the most important apparels ever. That's the number 1 shopping rule I live by. There's always a reason to buy basics(: Be it that it's easier to mix and match, perfect for casual day out with your loved ones or just an outfit for school. Basics are a necessity.

If you're someone like me who hates re wearing outfits (I know this is a serious problem btw haha but I can't help it), basics are your best option because it's just so easy and fun to mix and match. What's more, you get to portray a different side of you when you pair it differently. Take this top for example. It's a really basic piece but it's versatility always amazes me. For something a little girlier, you could always opt to pair it with a skater skirt just like what I did in the photos above. I chose a white skater skirt for the simple reason that there's white on the top which btw, I absolutely love.

On casual days, you could opt for something like this.

Here's what I wore for the Afamggtvdlp warehouse sale. As the term 'warehouse sale' suggest, I was expecting a lot of ppl and so a skirt might not be the best option. For casual days like this, pair this basic top with a pair of denim and you're good and ready to go. I would wear it this way if I was going to a beach or bringing my doggies for a walk as well. I chose a yellow bag for that day because I wanted a pop of colour. Bright and sunny yellow always brightens up a day(:

Now to show you smth a little more classy.

This top isn't the one from TAL but it's smth similar. I just wanted to illustrate the fact that a simple top like this can be turned into something a little more formal. Just pair of with a maxi skirt and your favourite clutch and all's good. In case you're wondering, I actually wore this ensemble to Phantom of the Opera (which you can read here) before I managed to get my hands on TAL's top. If I had gotten this top earlier, I would have worn it cause it will stand out more due to the white colour at the collar.

Needless to say, I absolutely adore basics like TAL's top because of its versatility. It gives me more room to explore different type of styles which a printed dress wouldn't allow. Nowadays, I find myself buying more tops and bottoms and not dresses. I'm still in love with dresses but the problem with it is that it's really obvious when you're re wearing it. That really bugs me a lot haha!

Do check out TAL's Facebook page here and follow them on instagram at @theangelslabel for updates! Psst, highly recommend this top for it's comfy material and versatility.

Lola's Cafe

After school last Friday, Jolene and I checked out a quaint little cafe conveniently located outside Kovan MRT. I've been wanting to go to Lola's Cafe for quite awhile after seeing ladyironchef and Joyce's IG photos. Moreover, it's really near my school so I was actually planning to check it out one day after school. Initially, I wasn't too sure where it was so Jo and I used google map and found out that it was actually only 2 bus stops away from school! Deciding to be healthy, we walked instead of taking a bus hahaha.

What's really weird is that both of us have actually passed the cafe a lot of times but nvr noticed it. Not sure if that's a bad thing haha. It's quite a small cafe though so I guess that's why we miss it every time we walk pass. Even though it's small, there weren't many people there at the time we went. Understandable since we went on a weekday at around 12pm. It's been such a long time since we went out after school on a Friday. So glad we got to do it again! (:

The interior of the cafe was pretty cosy. We sat right inside the cafe so the lighting was even dimmer. It even started raining after awhile which made everything better hehe. Nowadays, rainy days are just too appealing. I love listening to the pitter patter of rain drops, comfortably snuggled in my knit wear(my latest obsession). Well, I was in my school u that day but it still felt nice.

The counter of Lola's cafe reminded me of Wimbly Lu. They do look pretty alike. Wimbly Lu had a wider range of desserts displayed though.

We could have ordered brunch then but we decided to change our taste a little and ordered cakes! We had 3 cakes to share. Well 2 cakes and 1 tart to be precise. Jo was craving for tarts haha!

For some reason, I can't seem to find the name of this cake of their menu online. I'm guessing this cake has just been added recently. I can only rmb that the name has the word praline in it. Out of all the 3 cakes we ordered, this was by far our favourite. I'm not sure if you guys have tried Coco Exotic from Four Leaves before but this taste just like it. So now you get to enjoy a slice of it instead of ordering the whole cake(: For those who have nvr tried Coco Exotic before,(highly recommend it to chocolate lovers btw) this slice of cake is basically rich in chocolate and has some crunchy chocolate bits at the bottom. For the price of $4, I thought that the price was really reasonable. As expected, Jo and I finished it within minutes :D

I can't find the name of this dessert on their online menu on well but if my memory serves me correctly, it was Sticky Apple Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream. I chose this cake actually and it was cause I really wanted something fruity and it has ice cream! Who can say no to ice cream hehehe. I'm not sure if I mentioned in my other posts before but Jo is very particular about her ice cream. She won't eat the cake if there's melted ice cream on it... So when this dessert arrived, she was very happy that the ice cream was pretty hard and solid. It only started melting after about 5 mins whereupon she frantically started eating the parts that weren't covered in melted ice cream.

Caramelised Banana with Earl Grey Tart with Pistachio Topping($4)

This dessert really left me and Jolene confused. It has a really unique taste and we couldn't decide if we liked or didn't like it. With every bite, we were more confused haha! The taste of banana, earl grey and pistachio were super strong. Not sure if these 3 ingredients are the best together but maybe it'll appeal to those who like all 3. The earl grey in the tart reminded me of mousse actually. Jolene said that she didn't like the texture of the Earl Grey though. It wasn't as smooth as she had expected it to be.

Do take note that Lola's Cafe is closed on Mondays.

On a side note, I ran 4km today! :D Going to go jog on Wednesday (hopefully) and try to complete at least 5km. Nike run, I'll be prepared or you hohoho.

TAL: Full Bloom

Presenting my favourite apparel from TAL out of the 8 I picked(: I'm sure all of you know I'm absolutely in love with dresses and all things floral. It's just so feminine and the prints are too lovely to give a miss. Every girl needs a floral dress in their wardrobe. Floral prints are perfect for sunny Singapore as well. So how could I say no to a floral dress right? :D

The cutting of the dress was pretty good. It was a little long for me so I had to alter it. This dress is available in 2 colours, white and blue. Kind of thinking of getting the blue one as well because I'm just such a fan of dresses like this. For today, I decided to go girly with my sparkly headband, white wedges and pink bangles. The colours are not too overwhelming but neither are they too subtle and boring.

I paired it with a denim outerwear cause of my tan line. Sadly, my tan line has not gone away yet hahaha! Really need to go sun tanning soon cause it seems like the tan line won't go away for another 6 months. But anw, thought a denim outerwear would go well with it. Kind of completes the look. This dress is definitely a keeper for the wardrobe and I can't wait to wear it again soon!

On a side note, I've signed up for Nike run! Going to add another 10km marathon on my 'Things which I'm proud of' list haha! Can't believe Jolene talked me into it but it's a good thing cause now I have a motivation to star running again. Ran 3.4km today and did 130 crunches. Maybe I'll run tmr again if I'm not too tired(:

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 Sneak Preview!

Hey guys! On Tuesday, thanks to the folks of Churp Churp, I received 2 tickets for Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 sneak preview! I invited Jo along cause a movie is always twice as funny with her :D

After school, we went to Dhoby Ghaut for dinner. Originally, I wanted to have western food but after walking around the new side of Plaza Sing, we found a really cosy Jap place called Japanese Hand Drip Coffee. We decided to eat there cause we were starving and the food there looked pretty good.

After deciding what we wanted to order, we realised that the service system there works a little differently. Instead of the usual raise your hand and wait for someone to come to you, they had a little remote with a button for you to press to request for service. Kind of work like the ones you have in a plane. I thought that this was pretty interesting and useful as well. Have you ever had a really awkward situation when you wave your hand around but no one comes to you? So you end up raising your hand for quite a long time and feeling like a complete idiot. Hahaha always happens to my friends when we order so yay to this restaurant.

In case you're wondering how the remote looks like, I snapped a picture of it!

One of the first dishes that we noticed was their souffle and french toast. At the entrance, there was a mini french toast dish made out of clay. Well I think it was clay. But anw, it looked really interesting as it was served on a pan and was cut up into little pieces with each piece stacking on top of each other. The souffle caught our attention because that was what the lady next to us ordered. It was HUGE. It doesn't look that tasty when she ate it though but we wouldn't know cause we didn't get it in the end hahaha.

Even though we wanted to try out both dishes, we thought that it would be a little too much for us to finish. We both ordered the same dish in the end and said that only if we're still hungry after then we will order dessert

Hoshino Pot Baked Curry Rice

Here's what we both had! It's hands down one of the best I've ever had. Even Jolene says so too and everyone knows she's a picky eater. It was served piping hot with cheese oozing around. Jolene actually asked the waitress if there was any meat in it because from the picture in the menu, we could only see cheese, eggs, sausage and broccoli. So she replied that there was beef and pork in it. We both assumed that the meat was hidden underneath the cheese, just like other baked rice but when it came, it was actually minced beef under the cheese. Kind of like a lasagne. In fact, this dish reminded me of a lasagne just that it's rice. It was really delicious and the portion was just right! It might look like a small portion but after eating for awhile, Jo and I both realised that we weren't even halfway done with the dish yet hahaha!

After dinner, we walked over the The Grand Cathay to collect our tickets.

It was free seating, unlike Smurfs 2 sneak preview, so we were a little lost when we entered the cinema haha! We were just like urhhhh where do you want to sit. Eventually we managed to get pretty good seats right in the middle of the cinema.

Throughout the movie, I kind of was falling asleep. Not cause the movie was boring but I've been staying up late the past few days and have been getting really little sleep. Not helping that our school's timetable was really long every single day. However, in the middle of the movie, I suddenly felt so awake cause the plot got interesting. More of cute I would say. All the foodimals were toooo cute! For those who have watched it, my favourite characters were the marshmallows, strawberries and potato hippos! I felt like I was watching Pokemon at one point of time just that in food form haha! The movie was about 1.5h long so I didn't get home too late. Going out for brunch ltr with Jolene! On a side note, look out for 2 more outfit posts on TAL soon (:

TAL: Prints Galore

This outfit is definitely more me than the previous post(: Back to my girly style with floral details and baroque prints. Isn't this top just so pretty? I love it when basics like this have a twist. The floral cut outs are just irresistible! In fact, I actually got this top in both colours, black and white. I'll be featuring the black one real soon!

As it's a single coloured top, it makes it a lot more easier to match. I paired it with one of my favourite skirts. You can pair it with a basic skater skirt but I thought that this whole ensemble would stand out more paired with a skirt with prints on it. That way, it won't look too boring or plain.

Laser cut outs are really in nowadays and I'm glad I finally got my hands on this top! My sister was saying that this is a really pretty top too haha! Moreover, it's only a whooping $21.50! I've seen other blogshops sell this top but at a price of around $27.

Decided to side braid my hair in order to look even more feminine and added chunky bangles to complete the look.

Do check out TAL's Facebook page here and follow them on instagram at @theangelslabel for updates! On a side note, went to AFA, TVD, MGG, LP warehouse sale today and bought 6 new items! Can't wait to wear them out :D Retail therapy after 3 weeks of crazy studying for promos haha!

Hey guys! I've really exciting news to share with y'all! For the month of October, I'll be featuring 2 outfits per week in collaboration with The Angels Label. Some of you may know them as The Walking Angels but they are now known as The Angels Label. TAL sells affordable, chic, everyday apparels that you can wear. When the owner of TAL approached me, I had quite a hard time choosing the apparels that I wanted cause there's just too many of them. Well I finally settled on 8 apparels and I'll share them over this month so stay tuned!

Today's post features TAL's Short Jersey T Tee Shirt(Love). I chose this top because I thought it would be good for a casual day out. As it's a crop top, I thought it would be fun to go for a more boyish kind of look. Quite different from the look I normally go for but it's always fun to play around with new styles(:

If I had to describe this top in 1 word, it would be comfy. It's kind of your basic T which you can wear everyday. Normally, I would have paired it with a skater skirt which was what I originally wanted to do but decided on shorts instead in the end. Definitely going to pair this top with a skater skirt one day though. It just seem really fun to mix up styles. Crop top + skater skirt + converse hehe. With my pair of trusty old converse which I've had since sec 2(that's 4 years lol) and a cap, I was good and ready to go.

Do check out TAL's Facebook page here and follow them on instagram at @theangelslabel for updates! In fact, they just launched a new collection on 2/10 so do check it out!
