SR Picnic

Every year, SR's orientation will end with none other then SR Picnic! Last year, ours was a really fail picnic with the rain and the seniors not talking to us at all. I'm not even kidding. We all only mingled within our own classes. So this year, we decided to be really friendly to the J1s and bond as much as we could! Really glad that we had nice, clear skies as well so that we could actually have our picnic outdoors, like how a picnic should be haha!

I honestly didn't know it could be so much fun considering the horrible experience we had last year. I actually got to know some of the 01 juniors and they're really nice people(: We also played some games to break the ice and I hope they had a really enjoyable time!

The A5 OGLs also made an announcement for A5 to come to the front to take photos. It's so heartwarming seeing all of them in the school attire. And I'm glad they can still rmb me even though I was sadly, only attached to them for 1 day haha!

I was basically hopping around taking photos. I actually spent the whole 2h taking photos haha! So I guess this would be more of a picture post? Here are some with the most awesome class ever, 2SR01!

Not forgetting my favourite fashion show group <3

Wow ok I didn't realise I took so many photos with them and we really got photobombed a lot haha! And not forgetting, the Aquilians who made it such a memorable experience!

Last but not least, the 01 CAs!

Oh yeah, these 2 fellas are really tall and the photos are too funny not to share haha!

So that's basically it folks! It's 2 weeks to CTs but I'm still in an orientation mood haha! Oh well...

Aquila Walk In!

Remember at the end of Jan, I was blogging about our rehearsals for the house walk in? Well day 4 was finally the day where we got to showcase it! I actually find days 4 and 5 the most fun days of orientation cause we all get split into our houses and you can see all the different houses competing in cheers and dances(:

So that morning, all of our OG split (sadly) and got into their classes. I was in charge of 1SR21 and I was a little afraid at first to be honest. I mean it's a new group after all and what you end up with a super slack or fierce group haha! So anw, on the fourth day, all the house flags were up and all the OGLs started to get our face painted!

It was really fun because all the different houses will randomly burst out into cheers and start screaming haha! That's the best part of orientation actually. I rmb how I lost my voice last year during orientation cause I screamed too much. Moreover, all the OGLs are probably the more enthusiastic ppl in school. I mean after all, if they aren't, they probably wouldn't have signed up to be one in the first place. So all of us were shouting our house cheers at the top of our lungs haha!

The house walk in is actually a surprise to the J1s. They didn't know we were going to dance. One of the SCs actually made an announcement asking all OGLs to meet outside for a meeting and that was the cue for us to get ready. Aquila was the first house to enter and we sure made an impact! One of Jolene's OG friend actually said he wanted to join Aquila after watching our walk in. *Throws pom poms in the air*

So that was our house dance(: aka, The Cardio Workout. You have no idea how tiring it is to jump around like that. We were all perspiring after. The good thing about being the first is that you get to watch all the other house's dances. We were all cheering for them and dancing along. After having so many practices, you kind of know what moves are coming next even if you didn't learn them.

Well then we had house time where we thought the freshmen the cheers and dance. Only some of them would have to learn the dance though and I was one of the OGLs in charge of teaching them. It was such a fun time and Cornelius and I were beat after that.

We also had some time to interact with our CG after. It was actually more of a time for their teachers to interact with them and we were just there cause...actually  I have no idea why haha!

That's about it for the 4th day. On the 5th day, all of us reported early again and stood in front of the classes we were in charge of. Ended up taking photos cause we were there so early haha!

This was the day where the freshmen of our group got to play some games to teach them about teamwork, co operation etc. The OGLs didn't really take part physically but we were there cheering for them and I ended up being the photographer (natually haha)

After all the games and lunch, we had some more house time to perfect our moves! Ended up partnering Nixon that day and we had a new group of ppl to teach. And finally, time to perform our house dance! I haven't uploaded the video onto my laptop yet so I guess I'll just upload it here a little ltr. But it was really cool cause you could really see the J2s and 1s coming together. All the OGLs were wearing their white polos while the J1s were in PE attire. We positioned ourselves such that we're in between the J1s and not a whole group of us tgt. So I guess that's why it really seems like we're coming tgt haha!

And this is how you know orientation was successful yay!

Even though Aquila didn't win, we did come in 2nd! (: Hip hip hooray! I love my Aquilians so much and absolutely can't wait for the next event where we split into our houses! I guess that's Will Run? Not looking forward to running 10km but I'm sure that day will be really fun!

Orientation: Dream The Impossible

One of the best decision I've ever made was to become a CA/OGL. I've learnt so much about myself and made quite a number of new friends. I'll nvr forget all the crazy things we did together and how I wish I could turn back time to when I first met my OG. Orientation occurred over a span of 5 days and I was attached to my OG for a day and my CG for 2 days(: There's just so much to talk about so I guess I'll be breaking up the events and will require a few more posts to cover them haha!

So on the very first day, all of us had to report at 6.30am to get ready to welcome the freshmen. We went through our energiser one more time which basically consists of 2 dances, a song and 2 cheers. The whole energiser was about 8 mins and it was super tiring but fun at the same time.

Every year, a few OGLs would pretend that they're J1s in order to mingle around. Kind of like a prank haha! Last year, I fell for it too. I was actually the first in my line last year and my OGL told me she was J1. We hit it off really well and somehow the conv went to "I think I'm going to appeal to NYJC". Yeah and my OGL actually said "Omg, me too. Let's appeal tgt" So you can tell how embarrassing it was when I found out she was my OGL hahaha!

Funny thing is that this year, Jolene and I coincidentally both ended up pretending to be J1s and it just so happens that our groups are next to each other so we ended up seated next to each other in front. We decided to re enact out first day of school and said the exact same things that we said to each other.

"Hello! I'm Jolene. What it your name?"
"Hey! I'm Angie. Are you Thai btw? Hahaha"
"HUHHHH NOOOO! That's the first time anyone said that to me!"
"Oh seriously? You look like a friend of mine who is from Thailand haha!"

Ok but in my defence, I honestly have a friend from Thailand who looks like Jo. So anw, we started to mingle around and at about 8am, the music started playing. All the OGLs pretending to be J1s got up and did the energiser. Think of it as smth similar to a flashmob. I made friends with Hui Qi and Jun Wen (who were from my OG) and they both look so shocked and betrayed when they found out I was a OGL haha!

That energiser was so much fun! You could definitely feel the SR spirit in the hall. After that, we all went to change into our white polos and berms. Just to side track a little but all of us agreed that the berms make us look like zoo keepers. Yah meet the zoo keepers of SR. Ok well anw, after changing, we went to the canteen to wait for the Dean to finish giving her speech. Ended up taking photos cause we honestly had nth better to do haha!

Went back to the hall and started introducing ourselves to our group. I was partnered up with Melia that day(: There's actually 5 OGLs in charge of our group but we alternate with each other. Since it was the 1st day, of course there would be ice breakers. To be honest, I think our ice breakers went quite successfully haha! After awhile, everyone started laughing and getting to know one another better. We played games such as double whacko, H20 and hunter, squirrel, tree (Can't rmb what it's called). We also had really nice SPs attached to us who helped liven up the mood(: It wouldn't have been as fun without them.

I'm not sure if you guys face the same thing but the thing about double whacko is that you usually only call those with english names. It's just so hard to rmb chinese names! We kept hearing names such as Esther, Katty etc. Kind of pitied them but oh well haha! I'm very sure my name would have been called quite often too if I was playing. But since the OGLs were facilitating it, we didn't have to play.

After ice breakers, we head off for our college tour. As boring as it sounds, we tried to make things as interesting as we could. But nth much on the college tour. Following on, it was time for lunch! We all ate together and started to talk even more(: Melia and I had to leave halfway though to get ready for the fashion show. The fashion show is honestly the highlight of that day to me. I'm really so thankful to have been a part of it because I've made such good friends, especially those in the full u group.  To Barny, Melia, Denise, Kei Chi and Jia Ren, I'll nvr forget all our retarded rehearsal!(:

(Just check out Denise hahahaha)

(Our really fail jump shot)

We also took mass group photos of all those involved! All of them are really amazing people who are super enthu and made the whole event super fun!

(The main star of this photo is obviously Rui Ming who for some reason decided to alienate himself)

Oh yeah, and the last photo is us trying to look like a traditional Chinese family photo. I think we did quite well on it don't you think?

So that marks the end of orientation day 1. Time flies pass so fast and I wish the first day could have been a little longer. Unfortunately, I wasn't involved in the second and third day cause I wasn't on duty. I still went to find my OG when I had my breaks though! Sacrificed food time for my OG haha! I still miss them a lot and I can't wait to have an OG outing!
