Oriental Pearl Tower

The Oriental Pearl Tower is one of the most iconic places in the Pudong area of Shanghai mainly due to the fact that it's one of the tallest skyscraper in Shanghai. It is also located opposite to The Bund. On the second day of my Shanghai trip, we paid the Pearl Tower a visit at night! Truth to be told, I had no idea what it was before I went on this trip haha! But now, it is one of the places I think of when I think of Shanghai. In fact, whenever we were on our bus trips, this tower is always really noticeable because of its height.

When entering the lift, we found out that the lift will bring us up 260 floors. My group was jokingly saying that this must be the worst place to be at for those who are claustrophobic and afraid of heights. The night view of Shanghai definitely is something to see. The colourful lights, tall buildings and the cold wind we experienced up there is something we will nvr forget. If I remember correctly, it was about 10 degrees at night. Moreover, the fact that we were 260 stories up made the wind even stronger haha!

 

These photos definitely don't do the night view justice. The problem with going to places like this at night is that you won't be able to capture nice photos. Oh well, it definitely wouldn't have been as pretty in the morning so I'm glad we went at night(: Oh! Did I forget to mention that the floor was transparent as well? It allows you to see what's beneath your feet! So here's me being fearless and sitting down on the floor hohoho

 

The shape of the tower is actually in a circle so we all were just walking around it. Jo and I got lost so many times cause everywhere looked the same haha! All we see are colourful lights so being the blur ppl that we are, we spent quite some time getting back to our original spot.

After that, we went back down and entered some sort of a mini musuem. This musuem presents the trasition of Shanghai throughout the years. It's similar to the wax museum we have in Singapore in Chinatown. It probably won't appeal to those who aren't interested in the history of Shanghai though. Still kinda cool learning about the history of the country that we were visiting. After all, it's a cultural exchange programme(:

 

 

 

 

 

Hahahahahahaha ok there were funny mirrors at one section which makes your body look all weird. There are other places to go to other than the museum. Of course there were souvenir shops, dining places, you know the typical things you find at a tourist attraction.

Splash Of Textures

 

 

 

 

 

 

I had a whole lot of textures gng on to brave the coldest day I've experienced in Shanghai. Leather on fur on knit on denim on quilt. That's quite a mouthful!  I've mentioned previously how layering is quite in this season and I decided to wear my HH knit top once again on this trip but gave it a different look. I absolutely adore how basics can always look different when you tweak it a little here and there.

For this time around, I paired it with a denim blouse to give this outfit a more casual look. Quite appropriate for 0 degrees Shanghai that day as well. I'm pretty sure I would have frozen if I only wore the knit top haha! I first thought of pairing a knit with a denim top from Velda's IG actually. I thought that it was kind of cute and smth fun to try out.

For my outerwear, I threw on a really comfy leather jacket which actually belongs to my sister. Once again, I have to reiterate how awesome it is to be able to share clothes with her haha! I love how the pattern at the shoulder area to my elbow looks pretty quilted actually. Moreover, brown leather jackets are always an essential. Black ones too! The fur at the collar is actually detachable but I left it on cause it kept my neck warm(: I'm not really a fan of scarfs so this jacket is definitely a good alternative. Speaking of fur, did I forget to mention I was wearing warm, fuzzy, furry socks?

On to the next texture. My shoes are actually quilted. You can't really tell from the photos above and I forgot to take a close up of my shoes that day. However, I did take a pic of it when I first got it and here you go!

 

I love how the pink laces gives it an extra smth special. This pair of shoes are actually my school shoes haha! I'm pretty pink for school actually... My bag and yoga mat are pink too but oh well hehe. Anw, a lot of my Shanghai photos are gona involve Starbucks in it cause well, my group is kind of obsessed with it. Wherever we go, our first question will be "Is there Starbucks here?" I tried their Gingerbread latte in Shanghai and I am so devastated that Singapore doesn't sell it. ): Oh well, back to my usual Toffenut Latte I guess.

Christmas Flare

 

 

 

 

For all those who don't know yet, Christmas is my absolute favourite season of the year! Christmas buffets, gathering, presents (even gift shopping) are just so much fun! The only thing lacking in Singapore is the cold weather. Christmas just doesn't feel complete without the cold wind or even snow! My idea of a perfect Christmas is one in a winter country with my loved one, sipping on Coffee with Christmas songs playing in the background and preferably a fireplace somewhere near. I'm still waiting for the day where I'll be able to experience a white Christmas(: 

One of the outfits I planned for Shanghai was Christmas themed. It just seemed closest to my idea of a perfect Christmas because of the cold weather. In fact, I actually bought this dress because of the Christmas spirit it gave me. I mean just look at the design of the dress. How much more Christmas-y can it get? Checkered, red, green. Of course I couldn't wear it alone cause of the cold weather so I wore a denim shirt inside. The idea of layering is smth really in right now and it's very common to see mannequins in shops such as F21, Stradivarius, Bershks etc. having layers of clothes. Although it might not be suitable for the temperature in Singapore, it'll definitely come in handy during the rainy days.

Paired it with my ultimate favourite trench coat. I got it in the beginning of the year for CNY in Hong Kong but I only had the chance to wear it for a short 2 days so I'm really glad this trip to Shanghai finally gave me the chance to get it out of my luggage in the storeroom. Just a really random thought but does anyone else think that I looked like a Japanese P5 school girl? Hahaha! This set of photos were taking at Mahota Farm, which I will blog about in the coming days, and it served as such a nice backdrop! The sun was shining bright that day and Jo and I managed to find some free time to take these photos. Huge thanks to Jo for being my photographer throughout the trip! (:
